CSBT Environnement is a Normandy-based company committed to transforming a waste material that had previously had no viable solution: scallop shells. Our industrial plant is located in Saint-Martin-des-Entrées, near Bayeux. This marks a major milestone for a project that has been several years in the making and aims to create a useful, human-centred and forward-thinking business.

Before becoming an industrial project, CSBT Environnement is a story of people coming together.
It all began when three professionals from very different backgrounds observed the same reality: a mountain of scallop shells accumulating every year with no sustainable solution for processing them.
On the docks, in processing facilities, and alongside fishermen and fish wholesalers, they measured the scale of the challenge and, above all, understood that real potential existed here.
The same values
As discussions, site visits, and shared observations progressed, a common conviction emerged: this resource could become a useful raw material if it were put to use at scale.
This vision then brought together Christian Chantreuil, Stéphane Sabathier, and Gilles Bégué-Turon, decided to build a unique industrial project togetherin Europe.
